Orientation Travel and Directions

MIT is located in Cambridge, Massachusetts, just across the river from Boston. Cambridge weather can be hot in August, with an average high temperature of 80°F and an average low temperature of 63°F. Getting to Campus

Air travel

MBTA Service

  • The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA), more commonly known as the T, provides bus and subway (as well as other public transportation services) in Boston and the surrounding areas. To use public transport to get back from the airport, take the Silver Line 1 (SL1) bus to South Station. Then, take the Red Line towards Alewife train and get off the subway at the Kendall/MIT stop.

Car Services

  • Uber and Lyft are common methods used to travel around Boston and the surrounding area. To use a ride-share app to travel to/from the airport, please visit this link to see where the designated pickup and drop-off locations are for each terminal.
  • Taxis are available at each terminal at Boston Logan International Airport on the Arrivals Level, except Terminal C. For Terminal C, taxis are located on the Ground Level of the Central Parking Garage.
